I’ve been attempting to use up a lot of my yarn stash recently. When I was designing and writing crochet patterns to sell I accumulated a lot of different yarn colors. Having a lot of different colors has been fun but I haven’t been keeping my colors organized as well as I’d like them to be and yarn can take up a quite a bit of space. After my main plush yarn supplier closed down, Joann Fabrics, and now that I’m not actively selling crochet patterns, I figure it’s time to cut back on my colors and who I’m buying my yarn from.
Joann’s was the best place to get good yarn without breaking your bank account, in my opinion. I typically buy Bernat Blanket yarn but acquiring specific colors has become more difficult as most of the retailers that still carry it are regularly out of stock for the ones I want or need. Joann’s was also much more reasonable about their prices compared to other retailers. It didn’t take me long to realize that if I stick with Bernat Blanket yarn I would have a hard time keeping colors in stock and I would have to raise my own prices, which I don’t want to do.
I finally decided that I would switch to Hobby Lobby’s brand of blanket yarn as their prices are much more comparable to Joann’s. They have a decent amount of colors (though I will still supplement with some of Bernat Blanket yarn) and hope Hobby Lobby expands to more colors soon. I’m still willing to get different colors upon request for custom orders but the prices and completion times may change accordingly.
On the topic of using up my yarn stash, here’s a brightly colored lion I made. The orange color is, unfortunately, being discontinued by Bernat (it made a great goldfish color too). I was able to complete two of these lions with enough orange for the tail a lioness. The lioness is in a cute purple dress and she will be up for grabs soon (not pictured) along with the male lions. I hope to make some more in different colors soon.

I hope you will join me as I start my new yarn adventure. I know it may not be very exciting for some but I’m hoping to offer colors for custom orders and make it as simple for everyone as I can. These are some of the colors I plan on offering, plus a sand color, malachite green, navy blue, and an orange:

Note: some colors may vary slightly depending on screen settings. Cranberry, for example, looks more pink than red in person.
