I will admit, I was kind of excited to recently purchase a VHS player for our kids at the thrift store. We don’t watch television except for some DVDs we have. We actually got rid of our TV about 7 years ago and have used a laptop for any DVDs we want to watch. We wound up purchasing a TV at the thrift store as well. It feels a bit odd to have one again even though it won’t be used anywhere near as often as the one we had when I was growing up.
I remember going to Hastings and Blockbuster when I was young to pick out movies to rent, and yes, we always rewound our tapes before returning them.
I really don’t care for Disney anything anymore after learning more about the company and founder, but I do remember watching the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh pretty often as a kid when I was sick and having to rest. That’s why I tend to have a fondness for making Pooh colored bears at times (though Tigger was my favorite character as a child).
Anyway, I’m excited that my kids get to experience VHS tapes. I’m also excited to look for good ones at the thrift stores. Maybe next we’ll find a cassette player.
