In 2024 I spent a lot of time designing and crocheting play food and play food sets. My children have loved playing with these and best of all, they’re machine washable.

I still make play food but usually only upon request.

freshly baked

Chicken pot pie

Who doesn’t love pie and donuts? One of my favorites is the chicken pot pie (pictured left) but they’re all fun for everyone.

don’t forget the mini pies!

pumpkin or pecan?

bring on the veggies

Poppable Peas are designed to open for children pretending to shell their own peas. (Peas do not come out to avoid choking hazard.)

The mini veggies have been so much fun for little hands. Larger vegetables (top left) are sized to be more lifelike.

give them meat

Meat is such a great source of protein (and it’s delicious). Here we have whole chickens (one with a cavity for stuffing. See video), grilled chicken breast, grilled steak, BBQ ribs, sausage links, ham on the bone, and don’t forget the bacon!

foraging foods

I have a strong interest in living off the land and getting to know the native plants that grow around us, how they can be used for both food and medicine, as well as which plants are dangerous and should be avoided. I believe it’s so important to teach children about the things God grows for us (and animals) for food but more importantly what to avoid that’s harmful to humans.

I designed the Food Forest play set with these things in mind, where children can pretend to forage or cook with carrots, mushrooms, chive onions, wild grapes, pecans with removable shell, berries, and acorns. Each item was designed with education in mind on gathering and processing foods that grow naturally around us.
