Don’t let your trauma ruin your relationships and the things that could be wonderful in your life. Choose the path that says,
“That’s enough. I refuse to carry this anymore.” And “My trauma is not who I am. It does not define me.”
A lot of people do not understand that abuse and trauma will leave someone with a filter in which they see the world differently. It actually wires their brain in ways that causes them to not develop and grow the same way as everyone else. What seems safe and familiar to everyone around them (like having a loving family or good friends) can seem completely foreign and impossible to someone with past trauma.
They may not know who or what to trust because they see glipses of the things that caused them harm everywhere and, a lot of the time, in everyone.
But to those who are still suffering and still surviving, I am here and living proof that Jesus can help you change. He can help you see with clear vision and begin to heal all that is broken. He can help you rewire your thought patterns and remove the trauma responses.

Luke 4:18-19 KJV
[Jesus said,] The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
You don’t have to be afraid, you just have to properly seek Jesus and learn to trust Him. Sometimes that means letting go of your fears – one at a time – and making a conscious effort to choose to trust. He’s the only one who won’t steer you the wrong way. You may not always understand the way He takes you but it will lead you to His peace – something you may not be used to having.
I hope to encourage you, those who find this, that there is hope. It’s not too late to change your life and to have peace but a relationship with Jesus is the only way to fully make it happen. (And to those who don’t trust going to church or anyone there, start on your own. Get a Bible and start reading it. Start praying – He hears you.)
I know fear can feel so powerful. It can make even the idea of a better life feel impossible – just think of all that it has ruined and stopped you from already. All of the dreams it has crushed.
Don’t let fear control you anymore. Give your fears to Jesus and let him help you in saying, “That’s enough.”
And when fear is in the way and you don’t think you can do it ask Him to say it for you. He will help you.
Remember, He can see what we cannot. He can lead us through the things we need to go through to fully become healed – we just have to choose to trust Him to do it.

Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
